Rhetoric & Communication Ethics & the Catholic Intellectual Tradition associate professor position requires commitment to four coordinates: 1) rhetoric & communication ethics from a constructive hermeneutic standpoint within a humanities tradition; 2) a commitment to the Catholic intellectual tradition; 3) a single-authored scholarly book and scholarly agenda commensurate with a Ph.D. granting institution; 4) undergraduate & graduate teaching, including directing dissertations. Ph.D. required. Salary is based on qualifications and supplemented by an excellent benefits program.
Record of teaching and scholarly excellence and commitment to working with students and faculty within an established community of scholar-teachers required. Strong work ethic and commitment to ongoing scholarly publication, teaching, and service required. Undergraduate/graduate instruction in Argumentation; Rhetorical Theory; Rhetoric, Religion, and Society; Rhetoric of Technology; Rhetoric and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition; Human Communication in a Technological Age; History of Communication; Public Speaking; and related courses expected, as well as assisting with extracurricular activities that facilitate the intellectual life and the mission of the department and university.

The Department of Communication & Rhetorical Studies is one of the largest programs in the McAnulty College & Graduate School of Liberal Arts and offers undergraduate degrees in Integrated Marketing Communication, Corporate Communication, Communication Studies, and Rhetoric; the MA in Communication, Corporate Communication, and Rhetoric & Philosophy of Communication; and the Ph.D. in Rhetoric.
