Presentation Title: “Virtues-based Communication Ethics: How Now Shall We Live?”

Date: 07/14/2015

Time: 08:00 pm

Time Zone: Eastern (US)

Description:
Virtue approaches to ethics are emerging as attractive options for communication ethics scholarship. In media ethics and human communication studies, questions of “how should I live?” and “what is the good life for human beings?” are joining, and in some cases replacing, “what should I do?” posed by duty-based ethics. The work of Alasdair MacIntyre, in particular, provides resources for thinking through ethical communication practices in multiple contexts of human experience, including journalism, interpersonal and organizational communication, and rhetoric.
