Marist College invites applications for a Lecturer of Journalism to begin in fall 2016. Candidates should be journalism experts with an interest in teaching courses in digital journalism, introduction to journalism and feature writing. There are more than 800 communication majors at Marist across five concentrations, making it one of the largest and most dynamic departments on campus. Prospective hires should be interested in helping foster the growth and development of our students and curriculum.
The Professional Lecturer will teach four sections per semester – most likely classes in digital journalism, introduction to journalism and feature writing, with the possibility of sports reporting or sports broadcasting. Perform service to the department, including advising students.
Industry experience required—a strong working knowledge of journalism and digital journalism—and master’s degree minimum with Ph.D. preferred. Interest in sports reporting or sports broadcasting a plus. Ideal candidates will also have college teaching experience. Qualified candidates will have ability and interest in teaching on-line courses in the master’s programs, as well as the College’s campus-wide First Year Seminars. Candidates with an interest or experience in new media and digital journalism are especially encouraged to apply.
