Saying Grace

It is written,

“Let your conversation be always full of grace,

Seasoned with salt.”

God of Grace,

Help us remember

That conversation is food;

Gracious words nourish the soul;

Sweet communion nurtures relationships.

When we gather for a meal,

We say grace over it,

Salting it with your blessing.

So now we say grace over this conversation,

That it may be blessed.

May we be gracious in communicating,

Generous in our listening,

Seasoned in our speech.

As it is written:

“Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouths,

But only what is good for edification . . .

So that it will give grace to those who hear.”

So be it with us.

Amen.
